We have had a very busy summer, and I have to admit...I am TOTALLY ready for fall! I love this time of year, with the cooler weather, changing colors, fun activities, and apples will be ready soon! I have big plans for the apples I'm going to buy. We used to have our own, but a few years ago, a big storm took care of the trees-I almost cried! I plan to make apple butter, apple cake-I have a new recipe I am excited to try. I also love to make home made apple pie filling. I have used this for apple pies, of course, but it is also very good to use when cooking pork. I like it on pork chops and stuffing especially. I plan to try it on either pork loin, or a pork roast. I think it will be interesting!
Another thing about fall is it's time to get the crops out. I will miss Jeff while he is busy with the harvest, but we are always thankful for when there is a crop to harvest, especially in years like this one. The heavy rains, high river, etc. make things interesting sometimes! Jeff and Jerry will be getting crops out w/a new combine. It's a red one. I am probably supposed to know what kind it is, but I'm not sure-I think International Harvester is what it is, but I am not sure.
We are busy with the bed and breakfast. We have a lot of new customers coming, as well as getting to see the ones that have been here before. I love it when we have return customers. We must be doing something good for them to want to come back. :)
We have a new puppy here on the farm too. His name is Buckley (aka Buck), and he is 1/2 Australian Shephard, and 1/2 Border Collie. Charlie is his Daddy! After about a week of Charlie ignoring him, they are becoming fast friends. It seems the jury is still out on Ozzie and how he feels about him! He is a little bundle of energy and so fun to have around, even if it means middle of the night potty breaks and occasional accidents. He stays outside during the day, but has been coming in at night. Jeff likes to act indifferent about him, but he has on many occasions gone out and brought him in. I pretend I don't notice. LOL!
I am hoping to get the time and energy to move some flowers around and re-vamp some flower beds. Wish me luck on this one. This hasn't been my year for keeping up with things!
I am hoping to get a couple more camping trips worked in before it gets too cold again. Even if it means I am camping out in the back yard-I LOVE camping!!
What about the part where you visit Colorado? :-)
